Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on [23.04.2026].

We at AKR Charity Foundation are working to make our site www.akrcharity.com  accessible to people with disabilities.

Our Commitment

AKR Charity Foundation believes that everyone deserves equal access to information — including people with disabilities. We are committed to making our website www.akrcharity.com as accessible and easy to use as possible for all visitors, regardless of ability or the technology they use.

We believe accessibility is not just a legal requirement — it is the right thing to do. Just as we serve all communities without discrimination, we want our website to be open and welcoming to everyone.

What We Are Doing

We are actively working to ensure our website meets recognised accessibility standards. Here is what we have done and continue to do:

Content & Readability

  • We use clear, simple, and plain language throughout our website

  • We maintain strong colour contrast between text and backgrounds for easy reading

  • We use proper heading structures so screen readers can navigate the page easily

  • All images have descriptive text (alt text) so visually impaired users understand what is shown

Navigation

  • Our website is designed to be navigable using a keyboard alone

  • We use clear and consistent menu layouts across all pages

  • Buttons and links are clearly labelled so their purpose is always obvious

Design

  • Text can be resized using your browser settings without breaking the layout

  • We avoid flashing or flickering content that could affect users with epilepsy or sensory sensitivities

  • Our website is mobile-friendly and works on all screen sizes and devices

Forms & Contact

  • Our contact and newsletter forms have clear labels and error messages

  • We provide multiple ways to contact us — email, phone, and form — so everyone can reach us in the way that works best for them.

Our Website Platform

Our website is built on Wix, which provides built-in accessibility features including ARIA landmark roles, keyboard navigation support, and screen reader compatibility. Wix is continuously improving their platform's accessibility standards and we benefit from those improvements automatically.

Known Limitations

While we do our best to make every part of our website accessible, there may be some areas that are still being improved. These include:

  • Some older images in our gallery may not yet have full alt text descriptions — we are working to update these

  • Some third-party content such as embedded maps or payment gateways may have their own accessibility limitations that are outside our direct control

We are committed to addressing these limitations as quickly as possible.

Accessibility Standards We Follow

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, which are the internationally recognised guidelines for web accessibility. These guidelines cover four main principles — our website should be:

  • Perceivable — Information is presented in ways all users can access

  • Operable — All functions work with a keyboard and assistive technology

  • Understandable — Content is clear and behaves predictably

  • Robust — Content works with current and future assistive technologies.

Assistive Technology Support

Our website is designed to work with commonly used assistive technologies including:

  • Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver

  • Keyboard-only navigation

  • Browser zoom and text resizing tools

  • High contrast display modes.
